New Freedom Team Expands
John Chmela Talks with Marva Campbell-Pruitt of the Illinois Center for Rehabilitation & Education
The New Freedom Awards Team reconvened at the Jim Mullen Foundation headquarters to report status over the past 30 days and to clarify the vision of the awards ceremony.

In the past month, the New Freedom Awards team has aggressively reached out to the "community" of organizations that reach out to people who have a disability.

"We mailed out over 1000 packets of information detailing our mission, asking for support, soliciting nominations, and seeking corporate sponsorship."

The conclusion is that there is strong interest in the New Freedom Awards from Coast to Coast and especially in Washington DC and Chicago.

The New Freedom Awards team would like to welcome Pat Scherer from the International Center on Deafness and the Arts and Marva Campbell-Pruitt from the Illinois Center for Rehabilitation & Education as new and active participants in the New Freedom Awards project.

We also spent time planning the details of our "unveiling" ceremony where Mayor Daley will cut the ceremonial ribbon to our new headquarters and formally announce our plans for the New Freedom Awards in July 2003.
